MICHAEL E. THOMPSON, CPA, PRINCIPAL

Mike has been in practice over 35 years, specializing in small businesses and individuals with an emphasis in consulting, estate planning, tax planning and tax preparation.

Having grown up in Manistee, Mike is a 1978 graduate of Manistee High School.  He attended Davenport College and graduated from Western Michigan University in 1982. Mike worked for two local firms in the Detroit area before relocating back to Manistee in 1989.  He has been with this firm since 1989, when it was known as Daniel D. Laskey Company, P.C.  Mike is a member of the American lnstitute of Certified Public Accountants and Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants.  Having volunteered in various capacities throughout his life, Mike continues as the treasurer of the Deer & Aspen Club, Inc.  Mike purchased Daniel D. Laskey Company, P.C. in 2016, and changed its name to Michael Thompson & Associates, P.C. in 2019.

He and his wife Kendra live in Manistee and have one son.  Mike enjoys hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family.

ELIZABETH K. BEAUDRIE, CPA

Betsy grew up in Manistee and is a 2002 graduate of Manistee High School.  She earned her Bachelor of Science and Masters of Science in Accounting from Michigan State University.  She joined Daniel D. Laskey Company, P.C. in October 2011.  Betsy is a member of the AICPA and MACPA.  She is knowledgeable, energetic and friendly, providing tax, accounting and consulting services.  Outside of work, Betsy enjoys running a business with her husband and spending time with her family.

DANIEL D. LASKEY, CPA

Dan graduated from the University of Michigan in 1975. He was a branch manager for Farm Credit Services where he loaned money and analyzed financial statements for credit purposes. Dan was Jonah Certified by Eli Goldratt, physicist and author in constraint management in 1994. Dan is a QuickBooks Certified Pro Advisor. The company was the first to be "e-file" certified by the IRS in the State of Michigan. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants.

Dan played football his freshman year for Bo Schemblecher at the U of M. He was a member of the University of Michigan Flying Club where he won the state competition in spot landing. He was also on the Michigan State University Livestock Judging Team.

Born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Dan was raised in the Milan / Saline area. Dan married Liz Carmody from Manistee in 1976.

KAREN ALBERTS, OFFICE MANAGER

Karen graduated from Manistee High School in 1979.  She received her Bachelors and Masters of Science degrees from Central Michigan University.  After teaching secondary mathematics at Saginaw Public Schools and Baldwin Community Schools, Karen retired from teaching.  She started at the firm in June of 2018.  Karen has traveled to several countries and many states in the USA and always has another trip in the works.  She enjoys spending time with her daughter and extended family.
